Hebrews, part 4, Faith, Marriage, and Bible Codes

Read Hebrews 11:1 for a definition of faith:

1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

A word about marriage in Hebrews 13: 4:

4Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

All the sexually immoral! “Whoremongers” is the word used in the King James Version.

One last favorite verse, 13:8:

8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Praise the Lord!

Lastly, a word about how the 66 books in the Bible link up to one another.
There are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet and each letter matches up to three books. The fourteenth letter, nun, links up with the 14 book in the Old Testament, 2nd Chronicles, and, 22 books later, Zephaniah, and 22 books later on into the New Testament, Hebrews.

Symbolically, the Hebrew letter nun means fish, but also can mean continue, propagate, increase, or flourish. Fish are prolific and symbolize this idea.  As a noun nun means perpetuity and posterity and its basic symbolic meaning is heir. Why are there two very different symbolic meanings for the same letter? I don’t know, perhaps because this letter has two forms. When it comes at the end of a word its form is elongated and denotes continuity. One key nun word is nehehman (faithful) from which comes our word amen.

Since Hebrews is the third nun book we should look carefully for links back to the other two nun books. Indeed, Hebrews 11:28 says:

28By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

And 2nd Chronicles 35:11 says:

11 The Passover lambs were slaughtered, and the priests sprinkled the blood handed to them, while the Levites skinned the animals.

Does Hebrews link to Zephaniah? Of course. Compare these two verses. Hebrews 10:25:

25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

And Zephaniah 2:1 – 2:

 1 Gather together, gather together,
       O shameful nation,
2 before the appointed time arrives
and that day sweeps on like chaff,
before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you,
before the day of the LORD's wrath comes upon you.
